Why This Website?
We have tried for over a year to contact EGLE management above the district office level via a senator, a representative, Governor Whitmer’s office, sending e-mails, calling the hot-line and any other line that worked, leaving messages and sending numerous e-mails, all without any response regarding preapproval for a new erosion control product.
Therefore, this website was created in an attempt to find someone above the district office level who would respond to any communications and address our concerns regarding the lack of progress on permit applications.
At the time the website was made live, a permit application had been submitted to EGLE Kalamazoo district office without processing for over 8 months and we needed to determine its status to make efforts to protect our clients’ continually eroding property.
After sending a www.fixdammegle.com link to Governor Whitmer’s office and the EGLE director requesting comment on the website we did receive a phone call from a Jerrod Sanders within several hours. Thus far these efforts have resulted in EGLE posting an answered phone line number next to the director’s name and actually answering the published hot-line.
EGLE claims they are doing a fantastic job, and we would be truly impressed if they managed to clear the voice mail at the Grand Rapids office (616-356-0500) that has been full for over 7 months and often not answered during office hours, that’s their service model?
We will continue in these accountability efforts, the upside is it can’t get worse!
